About
About this index
An independent editorial index of hotels, published in English and written for readers anywhere.
Why these four categories
The site covers art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels because each is a distinct answer to the same question: what a room can be. A converted brewhouse, a two-metre berth, a resort on an island built for a world's fair and a building that melts in April have very little in common except that people sleep in them.
How entries are written
Every entry is prose. There are no specification tables, no key-and-value grids and no scores. We describe what is generally and durably true about a property: its structure, its setting, its history and the way it is organised. Anything that changes week to week — pricing, availability, promotions — is deliberately absent, because an index that tried to track it would be wrong most of the time.
On the casino category
The four properties in that section are hotels that happen to include a gaming floor. They are written up the same way as everything else: building first, location second, facilities third. This site does not publish odds, promote play, or carry any betting-related function.
What we are not
Not a booking agent, not an affiliate directory in the review-score sense, and not a review site. No property has paid to appear, and nothing here should be read as an inducement to visit any particular hotel.
